The small village of Withington, five miles from Uttoxeter, is set to experience a minor population boost thanks to Staffordshire-based property developer, Fresh Space.
The company has announced the acquisition of a site that will see the building of nine farm and barn-style homes in a private, gated development in the rural location. Withington itself consists of only a handful of homes, shops, village school and pub but its proximity to larger villages and the town of Uttoxeter has made it a popular choice with families and professionals.
Rob Rafferty, Group managing Director of Fresh Space, realised that the combination of the peaceful location, convenient transport links and a great array of high-performing state and independent schools would result in demand for properties.
“The West Midlands has seen a huge growth in new properties, led by city-centre developments in Birmingham. An oversupply of standard specification homes has led most buyers to pay increasing attention to location, quality and specification.
Many people want to escape from the hectic pace of the working day. Withington is a relatively undiscovered, idyllic location in the Staffordshire countryside that offers commuters easy access to main routes and families some of the best schools around. By working with our architects, the local authority and community we’ve made sure our development will add to the character of the village whilst bringing its benefits to a number of new residents.”
Fresh Space has won recognition and awards for its refurbishment and new-build developments across the region. It focuses on design, with traditional techniques and materials being used on exterior build whilst providing contemporary, high quality interiors.
The nine new homes in Withington will be no exception. Each will have its own unique characteristics. In total there will be six barn-style homes, two detached farm houses with one larger, detached farmhouse. All will have ample parking and garages set within the landscaped gardens of the gated development.
The properties are being marketed by agents Bagshaws of Uttoxeter with first completions due in February 2008. Prices will start from £294,950.
