FRESH SPACE ADDS AN INTERNATIONAL FLAVOUR TO CITY CENTRE September, 2007

Lichfield-based property developer Fresh Space has gone truly international with its latest development situated at the heart of the city.

The company has just completed an exciting refurbishment of listed buildings on historic Bird Street. The results provide five luxury office suites and two restaurants, adding an international flavour to the first wholly commercial venture for Fresh Space, better known for its award-winning residential developments.

Local food lovers will be treated to a unique fusion of east meets west with the recent opening of Mediterranean restaurant Sorrento’s and Thai eatery which is opening at the complex in the coming weeks.

Restoration of the site has maintained the core of the original building which dates back to the 17th century with a brick façade from the 18th century. The building was formerly occupied by the Royal Mail as a Post Office.

The Bird Street development builds on the winning formula of the specialist developer, adding to an impressive portfolio of projects that have successfully converted period and protected buildings. Fresh Space is fast becoming one of the UK’s most exciting property developers, winning recognition for its sympathetic treatment of properties helping to retain original features whilst breathing new life into them with contemporary styling.

Sorrento’s restaurant, the first of the international additions, specialises in Italian and Mediterranean cuisine with a traditional and simple home-made focus on offer from owner Umberto Lepori and his team. The restaurant’s impressive new surroundings along with weekly updates to the menu are sure to keep clientele coming back time and again.

Rob Rafferty, Fresh Space group managing director, believes visitors to both the restaurants and offices will be impressed by the refurbishment. He comments:

“We are very excited to announce the launch of the new restaurants and the release of the new offices onto the market. The development has been a landmark project for Fresh Space as the first purely commercial venture we’ve undertaken.

Working with listed buildings means a careful blend of approved materials, techniques, innovative use of space and cutting-edge design. We wish all of our new owners the best of luck in their new business home and are proud to have added to the thriving business community here in Lichfield.”
