Lichfield-based property developer Fresh Space recently teamed up with All Saints First School as sponsor of its annual Strawberry Fayre.
The event, held in the Church Leigh recreation ground on 23 June, marked the 150th anniversary of the local school.
Fresh Space’s event sponsorship helped the birthday celebrations go off with a bang for over 200 local visitors from the surrounding village. The opening of the day’s festivities was marked with the release of over 150 balloons, one each to represent a year of the school’s existence. One was later spotted in Lincolnshire, some 75 miles away!
Fresh Space was pleased to get involved. The fayre coincided with the launch of its latest development of nine family homes in Withington.
Over 30 stalls were hosted by school children and local villagers in addition to a host of other traditional fayre attractions such as catch the frog, tombola, white elephant, raffle, coconut shy and a football shootout.
The school’s marquee served strawberries and cream before being transformed into a venue for an evening barn dance. Guests were treated to a grand firework finale which marked the official closing of the event.
With the help of the event sponsors, organisers Julie Thompson Edwards and Tim Grey, of the Friends of Leigh School Association pulled out all of the stops to make the event as memorable as possible. Julie comments:
“We wanted to plan an extra special event this year to mark the school’s 150th year. This would not have been possible without the generosity of Fresh Space, to whom we extend a very warm thank you on behalf of the children and staff at the school. The event was a resounding success and was enjoyed by all of those involved.”
Proceeds raised exceeded all expectations with the final total standing at £3,500. The funds will be spent on boosting the school’s equipment and facilities. Previous monies raised have funded the purchase of IT equipment and other improvements to the school, in addition to financing school trips, pantomime visits, Christmas presents for the children and leaving gifts for final year students.
