One of Stafford’s best known buildings has marked its hundredth anniversary with a brand new lease of life and a nomination for a prestigious national property award.
The Oval, located in the heart of Stafford town centre, has been converted into a range of 34 luxury apartments and duplexes by Staffordshire-based home builder, Fresh Space.
When Fresh Space acquired the former art college in 2004 it not only purchased a prime development opportunity but also saved the iconic Edwardian building from threatened demolition. The future of the site had looked uncertain for many years, prompting the emergence of the STOP (Save The Oval Please) campaign.
The recent award nomination for the Daily Mail UK Property Awards 2007 is testimony to the success of the development and its developer. Established in 2001, Fresh Space has a grown in size and reputation, completing a number of high profile housing developments in Cannock Chase, Stafford, Lichfield and Norton Canes.
Specialising in conversions and new build projects out of the norm, the Fresh Space approach is proving a winning formula; offering buyers homes that are different by design, distinctive and aspired to, providing the very best in styling, fittings and features.
Fresh Space worked closely with the campaigners, the local community and Stafford Borough Council in breathing new life into The Oval. Built in 1907, the building has previously been occupied Stafford Girls’ High School, King Edward VI High School and more recently Stafford College.
Many of the building’s original features have been restored, such as the grand staircases in the imposing entrance halls and the large sash windows that flood light into each of the 34 spacious apartments.
Whilst many of the original features have been retained, the interiors are ultra modern with the latest appliances, styling and security features. Each of the apartments and duplexes has been designed to be unique, offering buyers a choice of layouts and finishes.
Tara Martin, marketing and sales manager for Fresh Space, is delighted with the award nomination and the response from buyers looking for a distinctive home in the centre of Stafford. She comments:
“The Oval is such a fantastic building and deserved to be given a fresh beginning. We focused on the needs of our potential buyers in designing and creating the ideal environment for town-centre living.
We have had an incredible response since launching the apartments and duplexes onto the market. The Oval is quite different to anything else being offered in Stafford and I think people like the idea of ultra modern living in a historic setting. It will be even better if it is an award winning development!”
In addition to part exchange and assisted sale schemes, Fresh Space is currently offering three of The Oval plots at reduced prices for immediate occupation.
The winners of the Daily Mail UK Property Awards will be announced on 5th October at a gala presentation dinner in London. For further information on The Oval and other Fresh Space developments visit www.fresh-space.com or call 01543 25 70 60.
